Hello you!

My name is Melody and I LOVE photography, let me introduce you to MY story. I am a photographer based in Adelaide. I wasn't always going to be a photographer though, I was going to be a singer.... until I learnt the ugly truth.... despite what I "thought" I actually couldn't sing in tune! You know those "disasters" on Australian Idol..... yep. That was me! :D I have fun, laugh loud & live life to it's fullest. This is what photography is for me. I love to capture the beauty all round us! A quick kiss, a glance, a smile. All things that take a moment, yet can be remembered a lifetime.

This is my blog where I show you a bit about who I am, behind the lens. I also post some sneak peeks from recent sessions, and lots of photos of my beautiful friends & family. I love all things to be FUN, FUNKY & above all FABULOUS

"I will laugh in the face of shallow depth of field; I will harness all available light with super-fast aperture lenses; I will handhold, wide open and smile." --Anonymous

Adam & Natalie Surprise all!!!! {Adelaide Wedding Photographer}

And here we have it, the story of Natalie & Adam’s surprise wedding!

It all started off at The Ed! Guests started arriving from 5.30pm onwards. An “engagement party” they all thought. The couple were congratulated, people were happy, drinks all round.

Why would there be a photographer at an engagement party I hear you ask? Well the fabulous Natalie had already solved that dilema! …. “Instead of taking me up on my offer of an E-session they decided to have me at the engagement party instead”. It worked a treat! I was able to walk around as I pleased, “pretending” I was only there for practice!

Pre wedding jitters? No where to be found! These guys are cooooool customers! Look at them glammed up, casually chatting with their guests knowing they are mere minutes away from one of the biggest events of their lives!

A quick last minute run down….

Natalie_H_Blog_12

Natalie slips away unnoticed and goes to get changed

Natalie_H_Blog_22 Adam’s first glimpse of his glowing bride *sigh* – so precious!

Natalie_H_Blog_13

You can see the love between them

Natalie_H_Blog_15

Natalie_H_Blog_14 After the ceremony it was time to debrief!!!!

Untitled-1 Then it was time for family photos…… and photos with besties (who may I add is also a fabulous hair dresser! She did Nat’s hair! Gorgeous!)

Natalie_H_Blog_16

Now this next photo has a story…… Adam & Natalie actually met for the first time at a bus stop, so when we realised that there was a bus stop right out the front….. we had to put it to good use!

Natalie_H_Blog_23

Such a gorgeous couple who just love each other so much.

Natalie_H_Blog_17

Natalie_H_Blog_18

Doesn’t she make such a stunning bride?

Natalie_H_Blog_21

As we were wrapping up, Natalie commented on the gorgeous colour of the sunset, the only place we could properly see this was from the street! So yes, laugh away, I did nearly get hit by a taxi, and a ute, all as Natalie & Adam stood there laughing at my car dodging attempts! But it was worth it in the end!

Natalie_H_Blog_19

Adam & Nat, thanks for being such a wonderful couple to work with! You guys were too cool for school! I love that you pulled of your surprise wedding so well! Enjoy your sneak peek and I look forward to showing you the rest!

All the small things…. {Adelaide Wedding Photographer}

Details…. ahhhhh details! J’aime, J’aime (I love, I love)

Ask any of my brides….. I love the little things that make up a wedding! The shoes, the rings, the flowers. The colour coordination, the wall decorations. The teeny tiny details that are agonized over for weeks before the big day, but quite often go by totally unnoticed on the day!

I make a big point to capture these details. I want you to be able to look back on your photos and remember just how perfect your day was!

Natalie and Adam’s wedding was no exception! I will start today with the details, and share more tomorrow! Oh and did I mention this was a SURPRISE wedding? No? Ohhh well I guess you’ll have to check back to read all about it! (Let me just say this…… it was FABULOUS!!!!)

So without further ado, I present to you the “small” things that went together perfectly to make one amazing day!

Donna & Travis tie the knot! Part 2 {Adelaide Wedding Photographer}

Yay! So it’s time to share part 2 of this gorgeous wedding!

It truly was a fantastic day! The bride was stunning, her girls all gorgeous. The groom didn’t scrub up too bad, along with all his mates! There were gorgeous little girls in their dresses, and cutie pie little dudes in their suits!

Sometimes it’s hard being a wedding photographer….. really hard…..

Donna_Wedding_Blog_10 When you have a subject this gorgeous….. choosing what photos to show off!!! :P

The ceremony was held at the beautiful Cummins House Glenelg. The details from the gorgeous archway, to the red carpet, to the signing table was perfect. Simply perfect!

Donna_Wedding_Blog_11

Donna_Wedding_Blog_19

One of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE things in weddings are “the looks”. The looks that pass between Bride and Groom, quite often at the altar, but other places also. The looks that simply say “I love you”

Donna_Wedding_Blog_12

Donna_Wedding_Blog_20

After the ceremony, and family photos we were given the 10 minute warning by the limousine driver! EEK!!! So it was a mad dash around the gardens as all our carefully laid plans were rushed away with the wind! But even so we still managed a few beautiful shots, despite the groomsmens attempts to thwart me from my mission with uncouth jokes!

Donna_Wedding_Blog_13

I then sent the bridal party on their way….

Donna_Wedding_Blog_14

Donna_Wedding_Blog_15

After that we headed down to the beach to kick off our shoes and have a little fun!

Once again I have to say an enormus thank you to my fabulous “bag lady” Shana! Who knows what I’d do without her! She’s the on you never see, but she’s always there, holding sunnies, straightening veils, sneaking sips from the guys’ beers! Also a big shout out to the wonderful Heidi of Heidi K Photography! Thanks for being my second shooter for the day!

And finally thank you Donna & Travis. I had such a wonderful day with you guys! You are a fabulous couple and to watch the love between you was something special for me! I hope you enjoy your sneak peeks!

Travis & Donna tie the knot!!! {Adelaide Wedding Photographer}

So, I have learnt that every wedding I photograph is different. Every wedding is definitely unique. No two weddings could ever possibly be the same. After a wedding, especially if I’ve shot with my ab-fab bestie Shana, we have a bit of  de-brief in the car on the way home. We talk about the things we liked, about the things we LOVED and the bits that made us “pee in our pants with laughter”. Well that was our car ride home on Saturday evening. We laughed, and laughed, and laughed. Then after the car ride, we sat at Sushi Train and laughed some more! Donna & Travis day was just wonderful! Filled with love, laughter and plenty of good cheer!

You may remember Donna & Travis from their earlier “E – session”. Well their big day had finally arrived! To say I was excited would have been an understatement! I never tire of seeing the amazing transformation that take place on a woman’s wedding day! Of course I was expecting Donna to look beautiful, but WOAH! She looked absolutely stunning! Her girls were all primping and fussing around her, and this is where we started our day!

Donna’s parents had been taking extra special care of their garden before the wedding in anticipation of some photos being taken there! A boy was it a lovely setting for us!

Flowers! Gorgeous flowers! (Surely you all know how much i adore them by now right?!?!)

Donna_Wedding_Blog01

Donna_Wedding_Blog05

Then we headed over Travis’ mums house to greet the boys! (And of course check out the bling)

Donna_Wedding_Blog06

Donna_Wedding_Blog02

They had organised the most fantastic car I’ve ever seen! The Stretch Chrysler Limo. Hot Hot Hot!

Donna_Wedding_Blog04

After the ceremony (which I laughed my way through!) we headed down to the beach. I was worried the girls wouldn’t be keen on taking off their shoes…. but it was a mad scramble to see who could jump out theirs quicker!

Donna_Wedding_Blog03

We then headed back over to The Pier Plaza Glenelg. The staff were happy to provide food and drinks for the bridal party who at this stage were FAMISHED!

Donna_Wedding_Blog07

Unfortunately they only thought to provide us with 1 key / lift pass so there were 13 (Donna & Travis + 4 girls, 4 boys, + 3 photographers)… crammed all together in a lift! Nice way to get “cosy”! LOL!

The reception itself was held in The Beachside Room which was just perfect!

Donna_Wedding_Blog08

And finally the cake! *sigh* – I was so sad not to be hanging around to eat this one! ;)

Donna_Wedding_Blog09

One last one before I sign off for tonight!

_MG_4065

Perfection Part 2 {Adelaide Wedding Photographer}

Here we are with (the long awaited) part deux of the perfect wedding of Catherine & Robin.

Our day started out at the beautiful McLaren Vale Studio Apartments, where I met the gorgeous Catherine,

Catherine_wedding_blog_12

and her good friend Samara.

Catherine_wedding_blog_15

Such a gorgeous little apartment with beautiful little hidey holes!

Catherine_wedding_blog_09

From there we headed over to the breathtaking Penny’s Hill Winery. Where I met the handsome groom awaiting his bride, with an overwhelmed little princess by his side.

_MG_3077

After the ceremony we headed out to the beautiful vineyards.

_MG_3227

Aren’t they just a beautiful couple?

Catherine_wedding_blog_16

A couple of individual shots.

Catherine_wedding_blog_14Catherine_wedding_blog_10

Ahhhh….. golden fields, a beautiful bride, a handsome groom… what more could a photographer ask for?

Catherine_wedding_blog_13

My highlight of the day was watching Catherine & Robin interact. Wether it be Robin’s hand on the small of Catherine’s back, lovingly guiding her as she walked, or Catherine’s adoring gaze upon Robin as they stood patiently waiting for me to set up.

Catherine_wedding_blog_11

And of course we must end on a family photo, and the divine Miss Grace!

Catherine_wedding_blog_17

Catherine & Robin, I’m so thankful, you chose me to be your wedding photographer. I had such a wonderful day, and it was pure joy photographing you guys. I hope your future is full of everything you wish for and more!

Once again a HUGE shout out  to the fabulous Shana! What I’d do without your “primping” and “fluffing”, and general help I have no idea!
