Coastlens SHOOTshop! {Adelaide Photographer}

I had the immense please of being invited along to the most recent Coastlens SHOOTshop. It’s kinda of like a workshop, but not really! If that makes any sense at all! It’s just a wonderful group of Christians who love photography, getting together and doing what they love, taking photos! I had an absolute blast!

I laughed, I listened, I helped (well I think I did), I watched, I learnt, and did I mention… I laughed, A LOT! :D

A HUGE Shout out to the fabulous Cindy Lee of Cindy Lee Photography for inviting me! I now can’t wait for the next one!

If it sounds like something you’d enjoy, then shout out! They love new members!

Onto the proof! – We were so extremely lucky to have such a wonderful line up of gorgeous models! Check out these gorgeous girls, who also happen to be BFF’s!

Skye, gorgeous Skye! My camera (and I) couldn’t get enough of this girl! She also has a beautiful personality to match!

Bella – In Italian this translates as “Beautiful”. Enough said.

Shannen. To me, beauty is not only about what we see physically, it’s also about what’s inside and radiates out. So true for this young lady!

This shoot took place at the grounds of St Jude’s Uniting Church at Willunga. They were so picturesque with glorious old stone furniture.

Megan & Luke Part 2 {Adelaide Wedding Photographer}

So, as you would have seen, I have already blogged the Detail Shots from this glorious wedding. So now it’s onto the beautiful wedding itself.

Before I start I just need to point out one teensy tiny little fact….. Did you know it was 39.5 degrees!!! For all you Americans out there, that is 103! Crazy hey! In Adelaide we are in the midst of the hottest November EVER. However this did not dampen the spirits of Megan at all, in fact it was joked about! Apparently if you ever want a freak of nature weather wise, wether it be rain, hail or heatwave, then get Megan to book an event! :D

On to the photos!

The girls spent the night at The Oaks Embassy Plaza so this is where I first greeted them to start with the getting ready shots.

From there we headed to the breathtakingly beautiful Church Wesley Uniting Church Kent Town. Here is the gorgeous bride getting ready to walk down the isle.

During the ceremony

YAY! They’re married!

Isn’t it a beautiful setting for a wedding?

Megan allowed me to induldge in my door frame fetish(even if she did think I was a tad weird)!

Now these cars were HOT! HK Monaro’s if I remember correctly! Luke was rather excited to slide into the drivers seat!

From there we headed to the delightful Himeji Gardens

The fabulous bridal party.

The wonderful couple!

So dispite the heat we had a wonderful day!

All this would not have been possible without my bestie & partner-in-crime Shana

Luke & Megan, you were such a lovely, easy-going couple to work with! Thank you for allowing meto be a part of your special day!

Megan & Luke tie the knot! Part 1 {Adelaide Wedding Photographer}

So, one of my favourite “things” in weddings are the details. It’s the simple little things that by themselves, don’t seem like much, but when combined they make the day extra special! The matching shoes, the little earrings, the beautiful hair, the gorgeous flowers, the beading on a dress.

For this gorgeous wedding, there were so many beautiful things that I decided they deserved a blog post all of their own!

Thank you Megan & Luke for letting me share your special day! I had a great day - despite the weather!

Okay, first up, her stunning dress!

Shoes, shoes and more shoes!

Look at those little shoes! Aren’t they sooooo cute! Which brings me to the next photo, little dresses to match the shoes!

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.

Flowers! I’d like it to be known that these were put together on the morning of the wedding by one of the bridesmaids, who is not a florist! Didn’t she do an amazing job?

Bling! Oh how I love it!

Check back soon for the photos of the gorgeous  bride herself!

Canon Photo 5

Each year Canon have a fun, yet challenging photo competition. You register your interest, then they send you out a box with “props” that you need to incorporate into photos.

I love it, just for the fact that it makes me think outside the square and have a little fun.

This year the briefs and props were,

Portraiture – a pair of black cardboard glasses.

Macro – 100′s & 1000′s

Splat – powdered paint.

Bokeh – a star lens hood.

Practically black.

This year I only got around to completing 3 out of the 5, but I had a lot of fun doing them….. no wait, i had a lot of fun doing 2 out of he 3, you will see why shortly!

Bokeh. I knew straight away I was going to have fun with this one! I love to shoot wide open. I love bokeh. In the end I decided I wanted to experiment with my christmas lights. My idea was to have one of my fav perfumes in the foreground, and the christmas lights all “blurred” out into the start shaped bokeh in the background. My end result wasn’t exactly what i had planned. But I was happy with it none the less.

Practically black. The hints and tips for this one were to slow your shutter speed right down, and bump up your ISO. The judges were looking for dark, dark pictures. In all honesty I can’t say I’ve ever really played around with dark pictures before. I like things to be bright, fun & happy. However upon checking on my kids one night after putting everyone to bed, I happened to come across master Landen, who had snuck out of bed and moved his curtains ever so slightly so he could continue to read by the light of the fading day. I instantly knew this would be my entry.

Macro. Small. Close. What do you think of? Well I stupidly thought of ants! Really, what is smaller than an ant. Okay lots of things. I know, but play along with me okay! So my “vision” was to have these ants carrying off the 100′s & 1000′s. Normal ants however are about the size of a sprinkle, so they were no good at all.  So I moved on to Bull Ants. That would have been fine had I a proper macro lens. Which I don’t. I had to tape my kit lens onto my 50mm 1.8 BACKWARDS. It kind of acts like a macro, it just means you have to get in close, REAL CLOSE. In order to get this shot, I had to lie ontop of a bull ants nest. Not cool. I actually only ended up with 4 bites. But bugger me did they hurt!

So there are my entries! The judges deliberate this weekend, and we find out the finalists on Monday. Wish me luck!

Clicks for kids

Just a quick one from me today.

I was recently approached by local Adelaide photographer Lia Hayes about helping out Clicks for Kids. I was honoured to be able to do something for such a worth cause.

Clicks for Kids is a not for profit organisation, raising money for those less fortunate. Last year, Lia was fortunate enough to take a holiday to Thailand and was touched by the living conditions of many people, but particularly the families with young kids like mine. In the Northern Thailand villages we visited, the living conditions were beyond basic with many families not having even the barest of necessities. In (the many) areas that were devastated by the Tsunami, many have not been able to rebuild and live in half demolished houses with no amenities. Over 15 million people in Thailand live on less than $2.00 a day. While that amount certainly goes further in Thailand than it does in Australia (!!), it is not enough to look after a family and there is no welfare system. Of the 2.8 million prostitutes in Thailand, many have been forced or chosen to take this path due to lack of other options. Young girls in particular are lacking in the education that could make the difference between other employment and entering the sex trade.

I have offered a sitting + prints to the value of $300. This is currently up for auction on Oztion. All money raised will go directly towards helping out these people. Please take a look at the Clicks for Kids page on Facebook

To bid on my package, or any of the packages avaliable please head to Oztion Vshop – Clicks for kids.

And just because I can not do a blog post without a photo, here is one to make you smile!
